Extensive travel abroad, in particular his contact with Mexican artists, has enriched his work. While on a Fullbright grant in Malaysia, he first
began painting on Japanese ricepaper with ink, using traditional calligraphy brushes. The expressive quality and spontaneity of this very basic medium suits his affinity for examining the emotional content of our inner

An Installation Art Exhibition
This is an installation piece created by a
team of five fine art students from the Malaysia Institute of Art (MIA).
They are 2nd year students:

The idea:
Taking our local common products, our very familiar objects as subject matter, to create a sensation. The visual
excitement will be enjoyed by all and such delight will induce greater creativity in the thought of "Malaysia Boleh"
The team said:
"Malaysia Through My Eyes" is an exotic multicultural
nationfilled with new ideas, bold and exciting.We try to project this by using common objects surrounding us to create stimulating and exciting art pieces, to emphasize the creativity that we have amongst us Malaysians.
The very bright colours created by the dusters is indeed the colourful multiculturalism of Malaysia.
This piece hanging is incomplete in comparison to the other one on the wall... but isn't that what reality is?
The individualists. the odd ones here and there can be seen each in a single claypot. Scattered around in the cafe, these claypots in a way connect the entire piece together as a whole.

The entire piece took the team four days to install and will be on exhibition till the end of September 2000.
