The Sovereign Art Prize

The Sovereign Art Foundation Limited is a registered charity dedicated to raising awareness of Asian art and Asian artists. There is an increasing interest in Asian artists worldwide and the SAFL is offering the opportunity for entrants to compete in this important exhibition and prize event and promote their talents to a wider audience. All money raised by the charity will be applied to help finance grants and scholarships for worthy Asian artists, and the first prize has been increased to US$25,000!

• Entrants must be a resident of the Asia-Pacfic region
• All entries must be an original work
• Entries should be 2-D paint or mixed media on canvas or on board
• Only one painting per entrant may be submitted
• Dimensions of the entry (including any frame or mounting) should not exceed 175cm when measured diagonally from the two corners furthest apart

All entries must be available for sale and remain so until the artists' participation in the competition is at an end, as pronounced by the Foundation

World Press Photo Contest 2005

World Press Photo invites press photographers and photojournalists throughout the world to participate in the 48th annual World Press Photo contest. This competition accepts press photographs taken during 2004 and intended for publication. Entries for the 2005 contest, accompanied by a completed Entry Form, must be sent to the foundation's office in Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

Poimena Art Award 2005: VENEER

The Poimena Art Award is a A$5000 biennial award for mixed media works which is open to all artists working in Australia and overseas. For the 2005 Award artists are asked to consider the material or idea of 'Veneer'.

4th Lessedra World Art Print Annual

An international print annual with the premise that no art form has broader implications in contemporary society than that of the print. The aim is to gather and exhibit contemporary art print works from all over the world and to contribute to the contacts and the exchange between artists, art lovers and collectors and to stimulate the research into paper, inks, and other materials used in printmaking.

PLoS MEDICINE Magazine Cover Art (USA)

Artists from around the world are invited to submit finely crafted, visually compelling, and thought provoking original art. The organiser encourage culturally diverse approaches to the themes of medicine and health, and welcome all artistic styles that are well rendered and engaging. Artwork may be in any media that will reproduce well in a 2-D field.

Artists whose work is selected for the cover will receive $500 and 5 copies of the journal. The artist's name and contact info and a brief artist's statement will appear in the journal. PLoS MEDICINE will be published online and in print and has a projected global readership of 70,000.
